Hybrid Wood is a new rack series within the Hybrid rack series. The new aluminum corner pillars are dressed in solid wood both on the front and on the side to give a more warm and home friendly touch. The solid wood part is available in black oak, cherry, oak and walnut of highest possible quality. These new pillars are best fitted with the veneered shelves or concrete shelves that are the same as the shelves in the standard Hybrid rack series, both with and without integrated isolation system.

Black Oak, Walnut, Oak and Cherry

The pillars can be ordered with or without integrated isolation system. The isolation is based mechanical suspension system that very efficient cancel all non desired vibration that origin from the floor or from the equipmewnt itself. In Hybrid Wood the isolation system is hidden in the pillar in order to be as discrete as possible.

Four pillar lengths, 200, 275, 350 and 670mm

The pillars come in package of two with one left and one right mounted side wooden part.

Standard pillar lengths are 200, 275, 350 and 670mm. To the Hybrid Wood is also available turntable top shelf. These new turntables are made of a sandwich board available in black oak, oak, walnut and cherry. To the rack can be equipped a sideboard also available in black oak cherry, oak and walnut.

Isolation is very important as it is no doubt it will enhance the sound quality extensively. Isolation Shelves will effectively damp the equipment both from internal as well as external vibrations using two shelves with a mechanical suspension isolation system in-between. The advantage of the Hybrid Isolation Shelf is that each module will be individually isolated and the rack will keep its stability. The Hybrid Isolation Shelf comes with a spring system that contains as many as 28 springs in total and can bear a maximum weight of 46kg. Customers can easily adjust the amount of springs in order to optimize the isolation. Below is a measurement analysis of the isolators that shows the damping efficiency. The Isolation shelves can be used in both Hybrid standard, Hybrid Full Length as well as Hybrid Wood system. The bottom shelf is available in black as well as white. The top shelf is available in black, white, walnut, cherry, oak and black oak. Extrusions in black, silver or copper.

Top lid for Hybrid Wood are available in black oak, oak, cherry and walnut. If no top shelf/turntable shelf is used it is recommended to use top lids.
Veneered Sideboard

To match the veneered shelves for Hybrid and Hybrid Wood is now also available Veneered sideboards for Hybrid wood and Hybrid. The Sideboard purpose is to keep the shelves with the equipment free from accessories such as remote controls, RIA amps or CD covers.
Hybrid Wood Turntable Shelf

To the new Hybrid Wood corner pillars is also new turntable developed. These new turntables are made of a sandwich board that have been veneered in black oak, oak, walnut and cherry. The sandwich board consists of 4 layers:
  • Layer 1: thin sheet of cork on the top to avoid any potential ringing in the table
  • Layer 2: MDF
  • Layer 3: Porous damp layer that will absorb and remove resonance in the table
  • Layer 4: MDF
  The top table Shelf has a thickness of 24mm width of 527mm and  a length of 705mm.   The board has been tested by letting a 9,8g steel ball be dropped 50 cm above the sandwich board and compared with a standard MDF board. The result is described in below table:

From the result one can read that the sandwich board basically damp with 10-13dB compared to a standard MDF board. The large top tables have a limitation of load as it is placed on top of the corner pillars of the Rack of Silence. The maximum load is 50kg. If further load is required it is recommended to place the uppermost rack shelf just beneath it and use the apparatus support to assist the support of the table. In this way the maximum load can be increased to 160kg.

Hybrid Wood suspension is integrated in the pillars. Up to 12 Springs per pillar can be used. One suspended pillars comes with 6 springs, 3 are mounted. Extra springs can be supplied. When all 12 springs are mounted can 4 pillars uphold 180kg.

The veneer is of the same high quality as in the Radius rack system. With the veneered, concrete and Carbon shelves the console is attached from the bottom meaning that there will be no visible screw heads. The black and white painted MDF shelves are attached from above. Measures: 490x435, 19mm  Concrete: 22mm thickness

The Hybrid Isolation shelf has an inbuilt unsurpassed isolation system that isolate each level from each other as well as from the floor. Hybrid Isolation shelf isolate the equipment from vibration using two shelves with a mechanical suspension system in-between.
